This is a fun Vintage Image! Shown above is an Old Wooden Barrel. It has a little sign attached with a nail. I've removed the text on the sign so that you can write your own message on it. I think it would make a fun Invitation or Gift Tag, you could also use it as a Label.
Love this! Rustic and unique with a lot of crafty possibilities.

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous graphic, Karen! I was curious about the text in the "sign"; it is actually a poem entitled "The Old Oaken Bucket", written by Samuel Woodworth in 1817. The poem was a nostalgic tribute to Woodworth's childhood--especially the bucket that used to hang in the well on his family's farm in Scituate, MA.
ReplyDeleteThe poem quickly became popular, especially in Woodworth's hometown, and it was set to music in 1826 by George Kiallmark.

I was, of course, also curious: P about C.E. Morrell, whose name appears at the very bottom of the bucket. Morrell owned a printing company in Elmira, New York, and Stinard Confectioner (located in Syracuse, NY), whose company is advertised on the bucket card, identified itself on this ad card as "Sole Agent" for Morrell's advertising cards.
